Windows 7/Vista Poor Quality Images Output

Icon 2 Comments
There seems to be a problem with the way windows 7 & Vista handles images, it appears that the build in Photo Gallery Viewer apply's some kind of Jpeg compression to the images resulting in poor quality.

But here are some examples for a better understanding:

Here is how it shows using Windows 7/Vista "set as background method" or via Photo Gallery:

(The poor quality is also verry noticeable around the text)

And here it is with any other software (i used irfan view in this case to set as wallpaper) or with windows xp photo viewer:

PS: here is a link to the wallpaper if you wanna try this yourselves: link

Interesting, it's barely noticeable so you really have to look in order to see it. I don't understand why it does this or if Microsoft is aware of this issue yet. :oO:

Doesn't this also happen when you use IE8? the fonts have smoothing on them so they don't look all pixelated?
