Posted By:  VT-Vincent @ 11 February 2010 - 01:19 PM
Ootake, a Turbo Grafx 16 emulator for Windows has been updated today. Below is a list of changes in this release:

Quote

  • In CD full installation function ("CD-ROM->CD FullInstall" menu), the bug that the music track of some games was not able to be taken correctly was corrected. * The game that cannot be correctly taken is displayed (on left-top of the screen), "Bcd:(the game name)". In that case, please start the game from real CD-ROM again. And, please install again. When it was installed with v2.31(or more), it becomes a display of "Fcd:(the game name)".
  • In some games, the bug that a few seconds of the end of the CD-DA sound source are not played (generation from v2.11) was corrected.
  • The timing of VDC (video chip) processing was brought close to the movement of a real machine. In "Kakutou Haou Densetsu Algunos", at the BATTLE MODE, the problem (generation from v2.00) that had stopped was solved.
  • The speed and timing were brought close to the movement of a real machine. At the stage clear of "Parasol Star", the problem that the screen occasionally shook uncommonly was solved.
  • Additionally, a detailed part has been improved and corrected.

Toggle this category PSP: (Rumour) New 6.20 CFW to be released Dubbed "Madd-001"?!

Posted By:  This Dude @ 11 February 2010 - 11:16 AM
Well, well, well, since the last report of PSPGen possibly quitting the CFW scene because Yoshinoro was disappointed that someone was passing off code from the team and making a new exploit, a new homebrew developer has reported that he's almost perfected a 6.20 CFW.

Posted Image

This new information comes from a Japanese developer and not much has been said other than the facts that it's still not complete and is still quite buggy.

From what I can see, this dev is working on his own, and many people are already doubting it's genuineness. All we can do now is play the waiting game.

Ok guys, first off, a little warning. With so many many fake news surrounding the homebrew scene lately, this one should be taken with a grain of salt, but apparently, a Japanese homebrew developer named MadDaemon is developing a new custom firmware to bypass the latest PSP firmware 6.20.

According to the dev, the new firmware is still in early stage of development and currently has some bugs on some homebrews and PSX games. Expect CFW 6.20 Mad-001 to be released on February 14 at 16:00 Japanese time. Real or not? Stay tuned.

Thanks to XenderRAy for the tip

Toggle this category Dxbx 0.1 Released

It has been a long time since the last release.. (Xmas 2008).
But now its time to show the world what has been done since the last time.

So thats why the new release 0.1 Alpha is there.

Download can be found on the sourceforge page.
dxbx | Get dxbx at SourceForge.net

What has been fixed..

- Game logos are shown in the main form and can also be exported.
- The dll`s don`t need to be copied annymore to the game folders. ( this because of Xbe Loading ).
- No more creating exe files, we run the xbe files instead of converting the xbe to exe.
- We use our own dll files, not working with the cxbx dll`s
- XBEExplorer, a new tool for looking into xbe files like a PE Header viewer, then for xbe files.
- XDKTracker game list has been updated..

This are some features i can think of.. so now you can take a look also with this new setup.
REMEMBER .. THIS IS STILL ALPHA -- NO PLAYABLE STUFF --

We are still hard working on it.. and prehaps we can make a full 0.1 version..
But for now its still ALPHA !!

Greetings,

Dxbx Team

Toggle this category Playstation 3 hacked, exploit released

Posted By:  Hard Core Rikki @ 27 January 2010 - 04:34 AM
A few days ago, a known iPhone scener stated to have managed to find an exploit in the PS3, and obtained read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor.
Hopefully, this should pave the road to homebrew on the console, maybe even custom firmwares and PS2 backward compatibility, who knows. The existence of custom firmwares for the PSP certainly boosted hardware sales in a time these were dry, and by providing extra functionalties not found in the official firmwares, paved the way for addition of those in the official ones (as tradeoff for continually disabling homebrew with every update).

Here's your silver platter
In the interest of openness, I've decided to release the exploit. Hopefully, this will ignite the PS3 scene, and you will organize and figure out how to use this to do practical things, like the iPhone when jailbreaks were first released. I have a life to get back to and can't keep working on this all day and night.

Please document your findings on the psDevWiki. They have been a great resource so far, and with the power this exploit gives, opens tons of new stuff to document. I'd like to see the missing HV calls filled in, nice memory maps, the boot chain better documented, and progress on a 3D GPU driver. And of course, the search for a software exploit.

This is the coveted PS3 exploit, gives full memory space access and therefore ring 0 access from OtherOS. Enjoy your hypervisor dumps. This is known to work with version 2.4.2 only, but I imagine it works on all current versions. Maybe later I'll write up how it works :)

This is a good article for what it means for the less technical.

Good luck!
