An effort has been made by the Dolphin team to reverse engineer the DSP hardware of the Wii/Gamecube which to this point has had very little documentation. Due to the lack of documentation available for the DSP hardware sound did not work on most first party Nintendo titles not limited to the Zelda and Mario games since they used a specilized format. The lack of documentation has made trying to get sound working in Zelda and Mario games a tricky task.
Just today some small but significant progress was made in getting sound to work in these games. Now you are able to hear some sound in these games albeit crackled and distorted sound. The Dolphin team is now one step closer to getting sound working properly for these games.
I have included revision 3499 x86, x64, and JITIL x86, which contains these improvements in the DSP_HLE plugin for everyone to test out for themselves:
